The zombie blogger

Hello, you may refer to me as Daniel. My real identity must remain anonymous.

It’s been 3 months since the first infection, we’ve been forced into hiding. I cannot reveal the location of our island, for attempts to rescue us may cause the disease to spread. Rest assured as long as the island remains isolated, the infection will stay contained.

I’m blogging this in the hopes that, although i remain anonymous, my family and friends will realise who i am, and see that i am alive and well.

And No, you can’t IP track me you assholes, Go ahead, it’ll say I’m somewhere in Australia. NOT EVEN CLOSE.

As this is my first entry, i should provide you with some background information. The facility was set up by a highly classified government organisation. I cannot disclose which government, but i can say that English is not my only spoken language.

The project was originally designed to be used against enemy foot soldiers on the battlefield. The infection was to attack the nervous system of the target, and cause it to quickly degenerate and decompose. Of course immunisation prior to exposure would grant absolute immunity to the substance. The substance was to be administered to targets via specially designed ammunition which could be fired from standard issue military firearms.

During development of substance P, a doctor i can only title “Rob” discovered what he believed to be an “immortality elixir.”

In his hastiness to test these new findings, Rob contaminated all of the samples of Substance P with his new formula. This is how substance Q was born. During testing,  substance Q was administered to patients in small regulated doses with no apparent effects. Frustrated by these findings Rob administered himself 100 times the standard dosage. The results were chaotic.

I will write this as a narrative,  because it’s more fun that way =).

I watched in horror as Rob administered an excessive dosage of substance Q. He gulped down a flask of the liquid, and then, with his eyes to the ground breathed heavily for a few seconds. No effect.

“The results were supposed to be felt instantaneously!” he shouted. He began to weep out of total exhaustion, the entire project had been thrown to shit. He fell to his knees and put his head in his hands. He remained like this, still breathing heavily for a few seconds. He slowly raised his head, his eyes bloodshot, green foaming at the mouth. He pounced on a nearby nurse and took a large bite out of her neck, her jugular spraying blood everywhere. She collapsed to the ground, and then within a few seconds began breathing again. She gasped desperately for air until at last developed a normal breathing pattern. Her skin, and so too Rob’s had begun to decompose, their complexion’s blue, with red hollowed cheeks. Their eyes no longer with us, ghastly empty white sockets remained. They almost looked as wax statues melting, and then the decomposition stopped, they remained in this half fleshy, half skeletal revealing state. He had done it. He was immortal, but not as he had wished.

I was separated from the two by a 6 inch thick glass window, there were three other researchers in the isolation chamber with them. I was the only one outside. I hit the “isolate” button sealing them inside, and then initiated the “incinerate sequence.” I watched my co-workers and friends burn alive, some i didn’t even know if they’d turned yet. During the fire, one of the butane tanks caught fire and exploded, creating a doorway out of the chamber. Four of the five ran screaming into the night, while Rob lay burning, too brittle to exist.

It didn’t take long for the infection to spread, we had to go indoors and underground, i stay back at the facility, which i have mostly been able to rebuild. The structure is strong, and i hope it will hold. I’ve made up several rooms in the hopes to find other survivors.

I can hear “them” outside. I need to shutdown the generator so as to not draw attention to my location. I will cotinue when i can. Until then, peace out.
